My Halloween Mantel-2013

Scary Skull
Scary Skull

This is my Halloween Mantel 2013. I do it up every year, but this year is my favorite. My son Ryan is the artist for the skull face and he did an awesome job. I got the frame at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $42.97. It was regularly a $430.00 dollar frame but had only a couple of dents (score). The letters “SPOOKY” I downloaded from “Shanty2chic”.Its a  really cute blog with fun free printables. My husband asks every year”whats the 31 stand for on the pumpkin”? You just got to understand I guess.

Happy Halloween Decorating!

Love Story Lampshade

Love Story Lampshade IMG_1979 IMG_1980

I purchased this lamp at Crate n Barrel a few years ago and I have always thought, “this lampshade is just so white”. Its been moved around in several rooms and made its way into the garage until further use. Further use day came when I decided to re-do my entry way table. The lamp found its way there and looked ok, but once again I was telling myself, “it’s just so white”. I had to do something to it and it had to be simple and fast (or I wont do it). Looked on Pinterest and searched Lampshades. This is what I came up with. The one I found had favorite Quotes written all over it which was cute but I decided on my “Love Story”, grabbed my fine point Sharpie and started writing my husbands and mine story in brief. From how we met to where we are now. It took about 15 minutes and was very easy. I did not write it down first just dove right in.I was so pleased that I am excited about doing some more and maybe little lamps for gifts and customize them to the reciever. You can buy new replacement shades at Target for around $8.00 or watch garage sales and thrift stores because an old one could add some character. So favorite quotes, favorite lines from songs or I think this one would be cute, a small lamp in your kitchen tucked in the corner with a fun recipe wrote on it.

What would your Lampshade say?

Knock-Knock, Who’s There? Orange!

I have been thinking a lot about Orange lately…seems it has been knocking on my door and I finally answered it.

Now if I was a really Rich Girl (like Gwen Stefani)

Orange Leather

I would run out and buy one of these, saw it @ Crate and Barrel for $1249.00 on sale wow ☞

Then I would decorate my back yard like this next picture

Orange Hue Backyard

Reality hits and I have to think smaller. So I have hit the accessories shops. In the past year I have been collecting Orange accessories’ here and there and finally brought them out and have been placing them strategically around my home.

The bright color brings me joy so I looked up its meaning and this is what the experts say:

Orange is a power color. It is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food(maybe should not paint Kitchen Orange). It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Lady luck’s color is orange ( Next time I go to Vegas I am wearing Orange). I have been told that if a change of any kind is needed in life, just burn an orange candle for 7 nights.

Put some orange in your life when you want:

to spice things up when you feel time is dragging

to become more involved in something

to increase creativity

relief from things becoming too serious

I am pleased with my Orange Splash’s thru-out my home, it curbed my Decorating Frenzy I was in with the new fad, I wonder what the next fad will be? Do you have a color fad going on? Please share!. I hear that Grey is the new Brown, so at my office I am re-modeling a few things and adding in Grey and Yellow. Cant wait to see it!
