Halloween Decor

I am up and running with my Halloween/Fall decor. I’m sharing it with you to help inspire you to go drag out those boxes from storage, dust off the witches and pumpkins and  bring them all to life again. I love the Halloween and Fall holidays, it brings out the “kid” in us and the warm feeling of family and the comfort of home.

This is the skeleton picture that my son drew for me last year, one of my favorite’s.IMG_0218.JPG

This spider picture was a idea from Pinterest. He is a real cutie. My son drew him for me and I colored him in with green chalk, black poster board from Hobby Lobby. Cheap, easy and one of a kind!IMG_0214.JPG

Summer Banner

Summer Banner

“Summer loving happens so fast”, remember that movie Grease. I loved it, love John Travolta 🙂 Anyway I am always looking for things to decorate my mantle with and I saw this on Pinterest and I had made one of these for spring so one for summer will go with all the summer holidays.

Listed are the items I used, all purchased at Hobby Lobby.

1. Spray Adhesive

2. Sheet Moss

3. Chip Board letters

4. Glitter

5. Banner Template I made myself

IMG_3076

I traced my banner template onto the moss sheet and cut out. Traced my banner template onto cardstock, sprayed with the adhesive and glued the moss onto the cardstock. If you have never used to Moss Sheets they are really cool, you can cut it out to any shape and can glue it most anything.I saw it being used in a lot of Easter Decorating.

I placed my chipboard letters onto waxed paper, sprayed with adhesive and sprinkled the glitter onto them very heavily. When dry shake off excess and hot glue letters onto the moss covered banner pieces. You could always make the banner templates any shape you want, pendant shape, square, round, have fun and make it your own.

I took the mini clothespins (also available at Hobby) and pinned them to the twine. This is where you can change it up with some colorful ribbon or I think next time I might try some cloth strips.

It was a fun & easy project to make and I think it will look great with my July 4th decor I am going to put up. Hope you enjoy.

Valentine Table Runner

Only a few more days until Valentine’s Day. I don’t do much in decorating for this day, but here is a little touch I did do and can leave up after the holiday. Love, Love,Love…
IMG_2907 IMG_2904I took a love song that I Love and wrote in down on this butcher paper with a sharpie and TaDa my custom runner. I put in a few favorite pieces for my center piece and glued this heart to the bird’s beak for the final Valentine touch.

Fall Mantle’s 2013

Fall Mantle 2013

I went simple and rustic with my mantle this year. I used my frame from the “Halloween Mantle”IMG_2549

Remember the skull picture my son drew, love it. Anyway I flipped it over and drew a pumpkin with a black sharpie and some chalk. Kinda looks like a tomato but its a “White Pumpkin” thank-you.Getting a lot of use out of my frame this year.Just kinda plucked out the Halloween goodies and traded them for Fall goodies.

This is my BFF’s fall mantle, its so cute. She went light and bright and whimsical.

Aline's Mantle

Aline did a awesome job. She hand decorated all the pumpkins that are in the fireplace, loving the clock and the cute little Owls, they make me smile. What I really admire about her is I know how much she enjoys decorating and crafting and it really shows, appreciate her sharing it with us.

Easy Thanksgiving Placemats

I love Butcher paper, white and brown. So seeing this on Pinterest was a quick “Pin It” for me. So easy  and inexpensive.

Be Thankful

IMG_2648 IMG_2641 IMG_2644 IMG_2646 IMG_2647

These pretty much explain themselves and you could decorate them to make them your own. I took a placemat and traced it onto brown butcher paper. Outlined it in Black sharpie, wrote the words “Im Thankful For on some and Im Grateful” on others. Will put the sharpie out on Thanksgiving Day and let guests be creative.

Happy Thankfulness :

Creating Your Holiday Vignette

Holiday Vignette
Holiday Vignette

This is my “Vignette” also known as a grouping or table scape. It’s a collection of some of your favorite pieces grouped together on a shelf, coffee table, counter etc. Fun to create by picking a theme, rummaging thru your house to find items that will play well together and pulling it all together.

So I recently learned the correct term for this is a “Vignette” as the designers call it. Ok whatever. I do know this, that there is a correct way to do one or “ITS JUST NOT RIGHT” We have all made one of those.

Here is what I pulled together for my Vignette. I am proud of it and it makes me smile when I pass by. There is stuff in there from Target to O’Flanary’s Emporium and Hobby Lobby and who knows where else. I only put the poster board behind it so the picture would stand out. Excuse yourself Mr. Poster Board!

Maybe you can share with us whats in your Vignette 🙂

Below is an informative site that explains all about Vignette’s and how to’s.

“Happy Vignetteing” (just made up that word)
