Myth associated with Hyacinth
Hyacinth was a beautiful youth loved by both the god Apollo and the West Wind, Zephyr. Apollo and Hyacinth took turns at throwing the discus. Hyacinth ran to catch it to impress Apollo, but he was struck by the discus as it fell to the ground, and died.[3] A twist in the tale makes the wind god Zephyrus responsible for the death of Hyacinth.[4] The youth’s beauty caused a feud between Zephyrus and Apollo. Jealous that Hyacinth preferred the radiant archery god Apollo, Zephyrus blew Apollo’s discus off course, so as to injure and kill Hyacinth. Apollo did not allow Hades to claim Hyacinth. Instead, Apollo made a flower, the hyacinth, from Hyacinth’s spilled blood.
Everyone or thing has a story…
What I do know is that these flowers are so beautiful and fragrant that I could fill my house with them. The market I shop at has a cute little floral shop that I hit first when I do my grocery shopping. From great priced bouquets to plants, vases and really cute nick knacks. So today I was lured in there by the wonderful scent of the Hyacinth Flowers. The scent is so wonderful I just want to rub it on me and inhale it like a drug. I have never tried growing them out in this Desert Paradise I live in and sure they would shrivel up fast, so for this month I will enjoy this potted little pretty in doors and get head rush’s from all my inhaling.
Go treat yourself and your family to one…they are a little piece of Heaven.
